Woodbridge Tide Mill Weather Station
The Tide Mill at Woodbridge stands on the banks of the tidal river Deben in a Grade I Listed building dating back to 1793. It is one of only two remaining Tide Mills in the country which continues to mill flour.
The Tide Mill has worked with Suffolk County Council to bring 21st Century technology to our Grade I listed 18th Century building, in what is believed to be a first of its kind project inside a working tide mill.
The project is based on a weather station which uses LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) sensors to collect data which is then displayed on a dashboard shown below.
The types of data captured from the various sensors which are sited both inside and outside of the Mill include, temperature, humidity, air pressure, precipitation, solar radiation, tide height, and the river and mill pond water temperatures.
The dashboard has both a summary page and a detail page where the view of the captured data can be manipulated and downloaded for further analysis.
It is hope that individuals and schools will find this information useful for finding out more about how the environmental factors around the mill change over time, and a more detailed description on how to use the data can be found in the document linked below.
