And there’s also a Fish Friendly Fireworks Art competition

The Fish Friendly Fireworks is an annual AV event. Environmentally friendly fireworks are projected onto the side of Woodbridge’s iconic Tide Mill lighting up the night sky in a contemporary take on a traditional Fireworks night. Accompanying this event Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music run their Friendly Fish Fireworks Art competition inviting local residents to light up the Tide Mill with their artworks.

This year due to Arts Council England and East Suffolk County Council funding Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music are able to offer free community art workshops and sessions to help generate artworks for the event. Woodbridge based artist Alice Stallard is excited to be working with local schools and organizations to do this. Look out for ‘Matisse at the Mill’ at the Tide Mill and other free, drop-in events that will be popping up about town in the run up to November 5th. Participants are also warmly encouraged to submit their own artworks.

Alice says: The competition is a great opportunity to see your work super-size on the Mill – a chance for a different perspective. My own work is quite small so it’s interesting to think about how it might look in a different format and scale. And for the children involved in the workshops, to have the opportunity to explore different artists and their ways of working whilst exploring their own interests and ideas is exciting, and then to see their artworks celebrated in such a huge and contemporary way is hopefully as fun for them as it is for the grown ups.
