Beowulf Festival is a community festival celebrating The Spirit of Beowulf in Woodbridge, Suffolk from May 3rd to 7th 2018 (Early Spring Bank Holiday)

From the Tide Mill’s perspective we have a few insights as to what may be happening in and around the Tide Mill as we make our plans. There will be a large dragon as part of the weekend experience.  This will be made of plastic collected from the river Deben and surrounding area and is intended to highlight the problem of waste plastic.  It will probably have a mouth through which people can deposit plastic waste and may have smoke coming from its nostrils.

It is possible that the dragon will be located for part of the weekend on the quay outside the Tide Mill.  There will be an archaeological display which will probably be under a canopy close to the Tide Mill with part of the display encouraging people to visit the Tide Mill as a working museum.

Final plans have yet to be agreed but there could be a talk at the Tide Mill by a lecturer from Cambridge University on the history of farming locally.

The finale of the weekend will be a light display extending from the Art Club across the Tide Mill to the river bank on the far side of the Deben!
