Summer 2022 Newsletter
Developments, appointments and plans at a busy Mill
Dear Supporters, Volunteers and Friends of Woodbridge Tide Mill
It’s a pleasure to be sending this Summer Newsletter with the Mill open daily and visitor numbers close to 800 a month and growing. Dan and the team of volunteers are busy welcoming these healthy numbers to see the Mill and the Committee remains busy with several projects, many outlined below.
In the six months since our last Newsletter there have been a number of changes in personnel, notably: –
- Fraser Hale, has resigned as Trustee and Curator to look after the Long Shop in Leiston. Fraser worked hard on a number of projects at the Mill. Most recently the successful application and attainment of full Museum Accreditation status. Administered by Arts Council England Accreditation is the benchmark for well-run Museums and Galleries. Thank you Fraser, you will be much missed
- Ian Reed our Hon Treasurer has added the role of Vice Chair of Trustees.
- Dr Amy Jane Barnes has joined us as Curator and has also kindly agreed to be a Trustee. Amy’s background is set out below. Welcome Amy
- Dan Tarrant-Willis has been Head Miller and Mill Manager for five years and borne the brunt of keeping the Mill active and working through Covid. Dan will be Head Miller and Senior Warden, allowing himself more time away from the Museum. Thanks Dan, we are delighted that you’ll stay involved.
- Volunteer Caroline Peeke has agreed to take over from the Revd Margaret Millar as Friends Membership Secretary. Margaret who remains a Friend of the Mill with my thanks for keeping the Friends group going over the difficult period of Covid.
The rest of the Team remains and is listed on the Contacts page on the website. You will see an appeal for more Volunteers below and I urge you to pass it on to anyone you feel might be able to help us. We are breaking down the volunteer roles into smaller segments to allow people to help without committing long hours to the Mill.
I hope you enjoy this Newsletter.
Best wishes
John Carrington
Chair of Tide Mill Trustees
