Visit of the Mayor of Doullens to Woodbridge
24 – 26 Oct 2025

In January 2024 a Woodbridge Twinning Group was formed to restore the town’s dormant twinning arrangements with France.
An initial public call out from the Town Council brought 15 residents together, who started work on reviving old links and finding a new twin. Two “International Picnic” events expanded the wider group to some 50 plus interested local people.
This initiated discussions with an Ipswich group which is twinned with Arras, and a local BT telecoms twinning arrangement with Amiens. This led Woodbridge to Doullens, a town halfway between Amiens and Arras. Doullens, which has an existing twinning arrangement with a German town, has lots in common with Woodbridge, but did not have a UK partner.
On 7 June 2025, a visit to Doullens was arranged by the respective Town Mayors and Deputy Town Mayor. A Declaration of Friendship was signed with a view to developing a full twinning agreement by December 2026 and a return visit by a delegation from Doullens to Woodbridge was planned.
