What a great evening!

The Spirit of Christmas Son et Lumiere event was projected onto The Tide Mill, Woodbridge at 8pm on Weds 22 Dec, 2021 with Free Entry
It  followed The Woodbridge Rotary Club Carol Service on Whisstocks Place which started at 6:30pm
It was created by Clare Perkins, known to many in Woodbridge as a former Mayor. Clare worked in collaboration with others, she said “As the producer, it is an honour to work with such a professional and talented team who are pulling together a project that brings in the work of local artists and musicians. Having the idea in 2018 of projecting on the side of the Tide Mill – as part of the Beowulf Festival – is such an incredible feeling. We are all worked very hard to make this year’s Christmas event even better – it’s our gift to Woodbridge, a town we love very much.”
The idea was to transport everyone to another world through spectacular visuals that danced to music, create a ‘wow’, choral singing that would generate goosebumps and bring joy to souls, give a sensual experience a step into a magical world of light, sound, and spectacular 3D visuals to celebrate Christmas.
The show started after The Woodbridge Rotary Club Carol Service and Santa had finished giving his sweets out, and a live recital from the Woodbridge Choral Society singing Hallelujah.
Through architectural drawings originally done for the restoration of the Tide Mill in the 1970’s, the audience saw in 3D how a mill works to make flour by only using water as its source of power.
This was set to a specially composed piece of music by Jan Pulsford (www.janpulsford.com) who, over previous months, recorded the sounds of the Mill working, and created a beautiful piece of music called ‘Duet for Piano and Tide Mill’
Other music played throughout the show was recorded by local musicians who collaborated with the team to make a memorable evening of Christmas entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

The Son et Lumière has been made possible by the kind sponsorship of the following local businesses: Plaice Architects, Happiness at Home, Pippa Murphy Ltd, The Boathouse Kitchen and Bar, Vanil, Woodbridge Greengrocers, 5th Woodbridge Scouts, Radio Mothership, Lightfoot Westcott Solicitors, Charlotte Crofts &Co, Chorus Intel, Holly Blue Boutique, Sole Bay Insurance Brokers, Claudia Myatt, District Councillor Kay Yule of East Suffolk Council and a few anonymous private sponsors.

Without this generous sponsorship, the Spirit of Christmas Son et Lumière couldn’t have happened and our local Community would not have been magically transported into a Christmas world of 3D.
