The Mill is managed by a registered charity and run largely by volunteers. It is only with the help of these volunteers that it is able to survive. While we have a good number of dedicated volunteers, in order to move to the next level of activity, and target both higher visitor numbers and increased and flour sales, we need more.

If you feel able to devote just a few hours a week to be part of this community based enterprise, and help preserve this world class heritage asset for Woodbridge, then please get in touch. Many roles are available and we’re sure we can find something to suit.

The Tide Mill Living Museum is renowned worldwide as an iconic heritage building. Up until 2011 it was a museum attracting many visitors interested in a glimpse of a bygone age. It has always been the largest attraction in Woodbridge, with visitor numbers in 2009 of around 7,000.

But today, as well as being an up to date and fascinating tourist attraction, it is also one of only very, very few tide mills in the entire world still working and producing a high quality traditional stone ground wholemeal flour.

Visitor numbers have increased to approaching annual levels of 12,000, and in only 12 months the Mill has developed a milling activity annualising between 7.5 and 10 tonnes.

Increasing visitor numbers and increasing flour sales are vital to the future of the Mill. Receiving very little on-going financial support from outside sources, visitor receipts alone do not provide the sums necessary to guarantee even the medium term future of the Mill.
